Rise Up

I don’t know what to say y’all. Two men killed by police one day after another. TWO. Back to back after a long list of black and brown folks killed already by the police, some of which were children. 49 latinx queer people were slaughtered in a club a few weeks ago by a heavily armed citizen.

What is happening to our world? What have we let happen? I for one am scared for our future. What are we teaching our young people? What will their futures be?

I can’t anyone, folks. I can’t sit back and watch the list of names grow and grow. I can’t watch as the world destroys itself over fear and intolerance and ignorance and hate. I can’t.

What I do know is this is not about guns and not about police verses the people, or who can carry what…it is about fear. Fear is what is making all of this happen.

Fear: an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

So what are we going to do about it? Let it destroy us? That is where we are headed.

It is time to say enough is enough. It is time to stop killing brown and black people. It is time to stop letting fear get behind our trigger finger. To stop fighting over who has the right to do or carry whatever. Stop making it about something that it isn’t. Just stop. Stop killing people.

Oh and if you are ready to jump at me with a right to bear arms argument…just unfriend me because my response is people should have the right to LIVE! That right has been taken without punishment over and over again.

Stop. Killing. People.
